Fogo de Chão (fo-go dèe shoun)

Saturday, May 1, 2010

Last night we met with our good friends, Joyce & Eddie Rogers for dinner.  One of our resolutions this year was to meet once a month for dinner or something since we don't get to see each other very often with them living in East LA aka Peoria. So far so good this year, and our place of choice for this evening was Fogo de Chão in Scottsdale, an authentic Brazilian steakhouse.

Upon arriving you are seated at your table and drinks are served while you listen to your waiter/waitress explain the Fogo dining experience. The 2nd step is visiting the gourmet salad & sides bar. After you have made your selection you return to your table and turn your disc "green side" up signaling that you are ready for the chefs to begin their tableside service. You choose from 15 different cuts of fire roasted meats that are brought to your table, sliced, and served by the gaucho chefs. When you are satisfied, just flip the disc to the "red side" until you are ready for more offerings.
The four of us had visited a Brazilian steakhouse two years ago when we vacationed in Aruba and had enjoyed that experience so much we really wanted to do so again here in the states and I must say we were not disappointed. The food was incredible and the service far surpassed the quality of the food and I personally can't wait to go back again.

And of course how can you end the evening without sampling some of their irresistible gourmet desserts... We shared the Strawberry Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie and Crème Brule.
